In an emergency, call 911. Saint Elizabeth's Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Gundersen St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by specially trained medical providers and nurses prepared to handle a wide variety of emergencies for all ages. We have a Level IV trauma designation with Laboratory and Radiology services readily available to assist in evaluation and diagnosis. If it is determined that a patient needs more specialized care than can be provided at Gundersen St. Elizabeth's, the patient is stabilized and transported by either ambulance or helicopter to a specialty care facility chosen by the patient. Gundersen St. Elizabeth's is a certified Minnesota Stroke Ready Hospital. We have been recognized for our quality achievements in stroke care. We offer state-of-the-art imaging diagnostics, 24-hour neurologist access through telemedicine and clot busting medication when warranted.
